School districts all across America are searching for answers to increase student achievement. Warren Township adopted an instructional strategy, The 8-Step Instructional Process, in 2001 and has seen significant improvement in student test scores. Working with consultant Pat Davenport, Warren teachers and principals created a customized school-based plan that achieves results.
Data informs us of what does or doesn't work and Warren teachers adjust instruction to meet the needs of the students. We follow instructional/assessment timelines, disaggregate and analyze data to plan instruction, deliver purposeful lessons, use frequent assessments, provide tutorial and enrichment time during the school day; and provide maintenance lessons to reinforce previously taught skills.
Our results have caught the attention of the Indiana Department of Education (IDOE). The IDOE is coordinating training of Indiana schools in the 8-Step Instructional Process and Warren teachers and administrators are serving as mentors for many schools in Indiana. Collaboration is the heart of education and we are very proud to have the opportunity to share with our colleagues from around the state.

Warren Township has created a video to offer insight into how the 8-Step Process transformed Warren into a success story! A link to view the introduction of the 8-Step Instructional Process video is to the left. Information on purchasing this video as well as one showing Learning Log meetings and Success Period can be found to the right.
