Spring Activities

As the weather is getting nicer outside, there are more opportunities to do outside activities with friends and family. Right now the weather is changing more and more this spring, but when it is nice outside there are some fun outdoor and indoor activities everyone can enjoy with friends and family.

One place to go right now is the Indianapolis Zoo, which is a great place to have a nice walk in the daylight and to see the different animals they have. They have 235 species in the zoo that are located in exhibits like Flights of Fancy, Deserts and Oceans. The zoo is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. throughout the week. The zoo also plans special events with the different animals where people can check out and get a full view of the animals and learn more about them.

An outdoor activity would be taking a walk on one of Indianapolis’ most iconic landmarks, the Canal Walk. The canal stretches north through the White River State Park. It is a place where people can take a walk, ride their bikes and take a swan pedal boat or a kayak that can be rented out. They offer tours throughout downtown Indianapolis for people to take during the day or when the sun is setting on their new Sunset Swan Boat rides.

Also, people can visit the Indiana State or the Indiana Children’s Museum. The Indiana State Museum is located in White River State Park in downtown Indianapolis. It is open Monday through Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. except on Thursdays when their hours are extended to 8 p.m. The museum has over ten exhibits or historic sites. They have exhibits like Indiana's Natural History, Native American History and Culture History, with different galleries that focus on topics including the Ice Age and Indiana art.

Last but not least, another activity or place to go to is Fort Harrison State Park, which has 1,700 acres of land and is located in Lawrence, Indiana. This park includes a dog park, picnic tables for people to sit and relax, and a playground. It is also a place where people can walk the trails, hike and ride their bikes. There is a $7 entrance fee to drive into the park, and it is open from 7 a.m. daily to dusk. It is a place where family, friends and even pets enjoy and has 4.7 stars online.
