April 30, 2025
Good Afternoon Warren Scholars, Families, and Staff,
We have a few important announcements for the week of April 30th.
First, I would like to highlight and promote a couple of upcoming performances at the Warren Performing Arts Center and the Bona Thompson Memorial Center in Irvington.
Tomorrow, Thursday, May 1st, the Warren Central High School Honors Band will present an ISSMA State Quals Preview Concert. Tickets are $6 and can be purchased by using the link here. ISSMA State Qualification is a highly competitive event, with only the top 16 scores across the state advancing to the Organizational State Finals. Our Honors Band will also compete in the ISSMA State Quals Contest at the Warren PAC on Friday, May 2nd, at 5:00 PM. Admission to the contest is free!
In addition, our talented students and staff have been working hard to prepare for the spring play, Twelve Angry Jurors. This powerful courtroom drama will keep you on the edge of your seat as it explores the meaning of justice and democracy. The play is recommended for ages 12 and up.
Showtimes are:
Thursday, May 8th at 7:00 PM
Friday, May 9th at 7:00 PM
Saturday, May 10th at 2:00 PM
Tickets are $10 and can be purchased using the link here.
Students in the Digital Design Program will open their Design and Photography exhibit on Friday, May 2nd at the Bona Thompson Memorial Center in Irvington. The exhibit will run through May 18th.
Come out and support our outstanding student! You won't want to miss these events!
Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week - May 5th - 9th
Next week is Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week, and I want to personally thank all of our incredible educators and staff members who go above and beyond every day. Students and families, please help us celebrate by sharing a kind word or message of gratitude. You can submit a compliment using the link below:
We’ll be sharing these messages throughout the week to recognize and uplift our staff!
Indiana SUN Bucks
I want to share a quick update regarding Indiana SUN Bucks (Summer EBT). At this time, the state has not announced whether SUN Bucks will be available for summer 2025. We understand how important this program is for many of our families, and we will share any updates as soon as new information becomes available.
YMCA Before and After School Care for 2025-2026 School Year
Looking for a safe, fun, and enriching before-and after-school program for your child? The YMCA of Greater Indianapolis has you covered!
General registration for the YMCA Before-and After-School Programs in Warren opened yesterday Tuesday, April 29th. Families currently enrolled in the program should have received an early registration link as of Tuesday, April 22. If you’re an existing family and haven’t registered yet, don’t worry, you can still enroll your child starting this week. Don’t miss out on this great opportunity to secure your spot for the upcoming school year! Please visit the YMCA website linked here for more information.
Community Connections
Lastly, I want to invite you to a special opportunity to make a difference. On Saturday, May 17, 2025, at 2:00 PM, we’re gathering at Stonybrook Intermediate and Middle School (11300 Stony Brook Dr, Indianapolis, IN 46229) to participate in the World Vision Global 6K for Water—a worldwide movement to bring clean, life-changing water to children in need.
Every step you take—whether you walk, run, or roll—helps a child take a step closer to health, safety, and hope. Why 6K? Because that’s the average distance many children walk each day just to find water—often unsafe and unclean. Your one step can change that.
When you register, you’re not just joining a walk—you’re providing clean water for a child. It’s simple. It’s powerful. And it’s personal.
Register here to make a difference
Have a great rest of your week, and thank you for your continued investment and support of our Warren students, staff, and schools.
Dr. Tim Hanson, Superintendent of Schools for MSD Warren Township
