This summer, rising 7th and 8th grade students from Warren Township Intermediate Middle Schools took part in an exciting, hands-on learning experience through Indiana GEAR UP.
Indiana GEAR UP (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs) is a dynamic initiative aimed at increasing the number of K-12 students who are well-prepared to enter and succeed in postsecondary education. Through a partnership between Warren Township and Purdue University, the program focuses specifically on supporting the graduating cohorts of 2030 and 2031 — currently rising 7th and 8th graders — as they prepare for their educational journey starting now and continuing through high school graduation.
Throughout the four-day camp, students engaged in challenges and experiments and explored the fascinating world of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. The camp not only cultivates critical thinking and problem-solving skills but also helps students connect their STEM experiences with their passions and abilities, inspiring future academic and career pathways.
Thanks to Indiana GEAR UP and its mission to empower students starting as early as 7th grade, this summer’s STEM Camp gave participants a valuable head start on their journey toward high school success and postsecondary achievement.
