In MSD of Warren Township, we believe learning to read is one of the most important skills a child can develop. Strong reading skills help students succeed in every subject and prepare them for future learning. Our continued growth on IREAD-3 shows what can happen when teachers, families, students, and the community work together toward one goal.
Instruction, Intervention, and Curriculum
Our work begins in the classroom. Teachers use Amplify CKLA, our district reading curriculum, to provide strong and consistent instruction. Students build skills in phonics, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, writing, and background knowledge.
We use student data to identify needs early, provide small-group instruction and targeted intervention during the school day, and offer after-school tutoring for students who need more time and practice.
Engaging Parents and Families
Families play an important role in helping children become strong readers. We want parents to understand what IREAD-3 measures, how their child is doing, and what they can do to help at home.
Schools share reading strategies, practice activities, progress updates, and other resources with families. We also encourage families to read together, talk about books, practice reading skills, and ask children questions about what they are reading.
Building a Joy of Reading
Our goal is bigger than passing IREAD-3. We want our students to enjoy reading and see themselves as readers.
Across Warren Township, students have opportunities to discover books they enjoy, celebrate their reading growth, and take part in literacy activities. We want reading to create curiosity and excitement. When students enjoy reading, they are more likely to read often and continue building their skills.
Community Partnerships
Strong readers are built through strong partnerships. Circle City Readers and RISE INDY provide added literacy support, resources, and opportunities for Warren students and families. These partnerships help extend our work beyond the classroom and show students that our entire community values reading.
