Dec 20 Superintendent Update Graphic

Good Afternoon Warren Students, Families, and Staff,

We have a couple of important announcements for the week of December 20th.

The national weather service has placed Marion County and Central Indiana under a Winter Storm Watch for late Thursday evening, all day Friday, and into the weekend. The forecast is calling for extremely cold temperatures, dangerous wind chills, and the potential for accumulating snow. For the safety of our students and staff, all MSD Warren Township Schools will be closed on Friday, December 23rd. K-12 students will participate in an asynchronous eLearning day, which means they will work independently on assigned lessons and activities. Students in grades 5-12 will have 5 days upon returning to school to submit their assignments through Canvas. K-4 students will have 5 days upon returning to school to turn in their paper-based assignments. All assignments will be due no later than Friday, January 13th. Assignments will be applied toward the student’s grade and attendance. Warren Online Academy will operate on its normal schedule. Warren Early Childhood Center will be closed.

It is not typical for us to announce a school closing this far in advance. However, the timing of the weather event and the need for staff and families to make preparations in advance, we felt it was necessary to communicate the change as soon as possible. Schedules for Wednesday and Thursday will remain the same. For additional information, please visit our eLearning website. Thank you for your flexibility and understanding.

As we head into the holiday break, thank you for an outstanding first semester of the 2022-2023 school year. I am extremely proud of the academic progress we have made this first half of the school year, and I am excited to see the progress continue in the new year.

Please be safe this Friday and over the holiday break. I hope you and your family have a wonderful holiday and a Happy New Year.

Thank you for your continued investment in our students, staff, and schools.

Together…#WarrenWill grow our students!

Dr. Tim Hanson, Superintendent of Schools for MSD Warren Township
